Cross-Docking
What is Cross-docking
Cross-docking is a logistics practice where products from various suppliers are received at a warehouse or distribution center and then immediately prepared for shipment to customers, rather than being stored in the facility.
In this process, goods are unloaded from incoming trucks and directly loaded onto outgoing trucks with minimal handling or storage time in between. This approach helps streamline the supply chain, reduce inventory holding costs, and speed up delivery times. By facilitating quicker transfers and minimizing storage, cross-docking enhances efficiency and allows businesses to respond more rapidly to customer demands.
